• Performs oral interpretation during meetings, such as Principal meetings, hearings, and other times as assigned. • Performs written translation, assessment reports, forms, communications, discipline reports, report cards, and related documents (Policies and SOP). Assists by interpreting for parents and staff the meaning of words and phrases. • May work independently with individuals or groups. • Follows interpreter/translator code of ethics, including standards for confidentiality of information. • Translates written materials, as assigned, into professional format as requested. • Helps with in-services for staff on use of interpretation and translation services. • Clearly provides schedule of availability and commitments to necessary staff. • Performs other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position. • Maintains informational and operational records and files. • May assist staff with monitoring students for the purpose of translation. • Meet all the deadline.
• Qualifications and Experience o Bachelor’s degree in Khmer language and literature, or translation; additional relevant professional development courses a strong advantage o At least four years of experience in content translation, ideally for international schools, law firms, local and international NGOs, private sector organizations or governmental institutions o Experience translating a variety of content from marketing materials to policy documents • Knowledge, Competencies and Attributes o Native Khmer speaker with excellent reading and writing skills and excellent command of Khmer spelling and grammar o Highly proficient in written and spoken business English o Comfortable working independently and under pressure o Good ICT skills; working knowledge of the Google Workspace, namely Google Docs and Forms o Good understanding of localization; able to take into account (and, when needed, carefully explain to colleagues) how Cambodian social and cultural norms are to be respected and reflected in the translation and interpretation process o Subject matter expertise in concepts of progressive education, the international school environment and/or public policy a very strong advantage o Brings seamless attention to detail, integrity and a commitment to accuracy and professionalism o Confident asking for clarification or assistance when needed; willing to do research, consider options and problem-solve independently o Strong interpersonal skills; able to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders o Highly organized and able to follow systems and schedules o Interested in research, learning new things and building new skills; brings growth mindset o Willingness to build and maintain an accurate, complete, specialist understanding of educational concepts to aid in producing meaningful and accurate translations
